Targets and rehearsals

reading through the assignment brief i feel like i have improved a lot already during the first term of dance compared to last year, I attend all my lessons, turn up wearing the correct clothing, focused and am willing to put in 100% no matter how difficult i find it.

I have attended peer workshops and tutor lead workshops: Millie was our chroeographer for street dance and i was also in a group with Charlotte, Grace, Amy and Josh M, we all put in ideas as well to help make it more of a group dance but millie was the main person as she was the experienced dancer in our group.

The tutor led workshop was a cardiovascular work warm up in the style of hip hop to warm us up at the beginning of the lesson and to introduce us to hip hop that we would later use in our street dance lessons.

we had to work in groups for street dance, we leaned a 'pineapple' dance in one of our lessons and changed moves and added our own to make it our own dance. I found it difficult at first to master the dance moves and keep up with a lot of people because dance is not my strongest thing, but after practising and extra rehearsals I was in time with everyone and enjoying the dancing I was doing.

This is one of the rehearsals of the street dance coming a long, still with a few timing adjustments needing to be made.

after lots of rehearsals such a this we managed to get all the timings right and pull of a really good street dance in the dance show at college!

Also, we have been working on songs from Chicago for another showcase, for dancing the songs I was in were: Cell block tango, all that jazz and razzle dazzle. We had made up our own dances for this except for 'all that jazz' and had to ensure we regularly rehearsed these dances as they were difficult and had to be practised  in order, for me especially to do it right! I feel that I have worked really hard to make sure I have tried my hardest to learn the dances because there are very good dancers in the group and we all needed to be perfect together so we all looked good and performed in time. Looking back at the rehearsal videos i have progressed, even with little things for example, I don't look down at the floor when i'm dancing which was a key thing for me to improve on so i have focused and ensured i don't do this in dances.

Here are our rehearsal video's from Chicago. All That Jazz 1.

First lesson

today we did a life plan of what we wanted to do after college, or from when we started school, to say what we wanted to achieve in the future.

i found this hard to do because i really dont know what i want to do when i leave college, so i got up to 'finish musical theatre with a really good grade' then got stuck so i need to keep thinking about what kind of thing i want to do after college.
